GRANT RECIPIENT SPOTLIGHT – Creators Art Space

The Creators Artspace was established in 1993 by a group of local artists with the support of Wodonga City Council with the aim to continuously provide a space for all types of art forms, encourage & promote regional artists, and ensure artists have the ability to exhibit and sell their ideas.

Located at Gateway Village on the Lincoln Causeway, provides the region with a central location for all artists.

In 2022, Creators Artspace applied for a grant of $2,000 for their “Overwintering Project Wodonga”. The Overwintering Project Wodonga is a collaboration with BirdLife Australia using Visal arts to raise awareness of local wetland habitats and the impact on migratory birds.

The project consisted of a public information night, a field trip for local artists to the Wonga Wetlands to observe, photograph and sketch, a two-day eco-dying & print workshops with well-known Melbourne Artists and two 3-week exhibitions.

The project has since resulted in the largest attendance for the two openings and gallery visits!

The print exhibition was opened by local MP Helen Haines MP (as seen below) and the photographic exhibition by Prof David Watson from Charles Sturt Uni.
