GRANT RECIPIENT SPOTLIGHT – Drop In & Take Off Incorporated
Drop in & Take Off Incorporated are a not for profit organisation with a vision; to encourage participation in skateboarding with the goal to promote physical and mental health benefits in members who have experienced barriers to the community and social interaction, through tailored programs.
Partnered with a local skateboard lesson provider (Al’s Skate Co), Drop In & Take Off Inc drives to reach all possible members from Cootamundra in NSW down to Seymour/ Shepparton in Victoria.
In 2023, Drop In & Take Off Inc applied for a $5,000 grant to deliver their ‘STARTTS’ Community Skateboarding program. The project will deliver 2x 8 week programs specialised for participants from local refugee support organisation – STARTTS (NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors).
Drop In & Take Off Inc aims to teach all members a new skill and pathway to engage within the community, while building self-esteem & confidence in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Last week, Albury Wodonga Connected Community board member ‘Nicho’ was able to catch up with president Al Taylor about what this grant will mean to the organisation.
