GRANT RECIPIENT SPOTLIGHT – Fight Cancer Foundation
Hilltop Patient & Carer Accommodation Centre Stage
Fight Cancer Foundation is a charity dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families, as well as research into treatments and cures.
With a mission to give hope and save lives, Fight Cancer Foundation’s programs and services provide on-the-ground support to families battling against cancer.
In 2021, Fight Cancer Foundation applied for a $20,000 grant which would be used in the completion of the Stage II expansion of the Hilltop Patient & Carer Accommodation Centre.
The Stage II expansion enables an additional 10 cancer patients and carers per night from regional and remote New South Wales and Victoria to stay together during treatment and recovery, increasing the capacity of this unique and vital service to 30 rooms.
This will reduce the financial, physical and emotional impact cancer has on guests and their families, as well as support Hilltop’s ability to provide accommodation without a time limit especially at peak treatment periods, allowing patients the flexibility, stability and safety to recover fully.
Albury Wodonga Connected Communities funds supported the fit out of the administration offices at the centre. Fit out included office furniture, information technology equipment and storage (as per pictures below).
On Monday 12th of September 2022, board members Allison Bruce and Thomas Scott were kindly invited by Alice Glachan and Eric Wright to visit the accommodation centre to be able to look at the completed works.
